targate Sport Horses
was designed by Emily Wyly for the serious dressage
competitor. With sights on producing international
dressage horses, much thought was put into the
health and safety of the horses. The style of
this facility is in keeping with the old world
tradition of dressage and the climate conditions
of North Texas. Much attention has been given
to ventilation in the barns and indoor arena so
that the heavy European horses stay comfortable.
Our human clients have not been left out in the design. Climate-controlled tack rooms, kitchen and lounge areas, showers, tack lockers and commercial washers and dryers are a few of the amenities added for their convenience.
The indoor arena is air-conditioned during the extreme heat. The footing in the indoor arena is a special-mixed sand for strengthening and muscle tone and is manicured daily. The large viewing area is designed to encourage auditing and has a library of books and tapes for continuing educational purposes.
There are 30 individual paddocks, and all training horses are turned out individually. There is also a covered round pen for longing and longe lessons, an outdoor round pen, a Euro-Walker, a free-jumping shoot and a 450' X 500' outdoor arena.
